I posted this story on my Facebook page some years ago, but I’m repeating it here because to this day I still don’t know whether to laugh or get annoyed about it.
About twenty years ago, a colleague of mine at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) proposed a visual rebranding for the institution, which at the time had three or four different logos. He created a more modern symbol, but over time it never really became fully established as the university’s graphic identity.
In the end, it was forgotten…
Then, a few years later, a football club in India — Minerva Academy FC — shamelessly decided to adopt the symbol for itself.
As they say in football jargon: if you don’t take your chances, someone else will…
